Two Questions and One Object

I created two questions for my project about home, belonging, and international students:

1. If you were studying on a different planet, what would you bring from home and why?

2. When did you first begin to feel at home in a foreign place?

I want to created a “Home Cube”—a clear, non-melting ice cube with a tiny star frozen inside—for the object.

After showing it to the participants, I would inquire:

“What do you think is frozen inside if this came from your home planet?”

It might stand for a person, cuisine, voice, scent, memory, or anything else they connect to home.
